Funeral Consumers Alliance of Central Texas

This organization is an invaluable resource for people in Central Texas who need any information about end-of-life options, including burials and funerals.

Each year, they gather a price list from the funeral homes in our area and post the list to the site. In Texas, all funeral homes are obligated by law to give you a price list if you ask for it. They are not obligated to post the list online.

Elgin Funeral Home

I can personally vouch for this funeral home, their ethics, honesty, and genuine care for all people. You will be well-cared for and charged fairly. For those not familiar with Elgin, it’s just outside of Austin.

Compassion Funeral Home

Genaro Reyes is the owner and Funeral Director of Compassion Funeral Home. He specializes in Natural Burial and Home Funerals. Best of all, he is also a mobile mortician, which I didn’t even know existed. He is gentle and kind and will put you and your family completely at ease.

Countryside Memorial Park

Countryside Memorial Park is a natural burial cemetery just outside of San Antonio (La Vernia, TX) owned and operated by Sunny Markham and her daughter Chrysta Bell. They are wonderful people, who are deeply honored to be doing this work.

Hospice Austin

I’m honored to have been a volunteer with Hospice Austin for a few years now. They are the only non-profit in Austin who will accept anyone, regardless of their ability to pay. Their service is the gold-standard, and anyone who ends up in their care will have hit the jackpot. If I was a billionaire, I would still choose Hospice Austin.

Donate Life Texas

Tissue, eye and organ donation is a selfless gift that provides hope, offers healing and gives thousands of people a second chance at life each year.

Up to 8 lives can be saved if you donate your organs, up to 2 people may receive sight if you donate your corneas, and up to 75 lives can be healed or saved when you donate your tissues.

You can sign up on their site, and even pick and choose what you do and don’t want to donate.
